How can I get my oil fired hot water tank to stay on?
Been having trouble for months now, the past mnth I have had “NO” hot water almost every day- small house, landlord has been in and replaced nozzle, transformer and some other black plastic part on top of the transformer. I hate to call him again but, the water heater is off again! I have other things to do and this is really an ongoing upset to house and home.
The burner must have a flame sensor of some sort, more than likely it is weak. Most often it is either a metal probe that sits in right the flame or a fire eye which has a photocell that senses the light of the flame. You can try to clean these and they will sometimes work for several more months or more, replace it and the thing should work fine.
