My car will start in this cold weather, but?
when it starts it turns off again. I try to start it again and it will not start for a few tries, then it will start again and when I accelerate it turns off. I keep my foot on the accelerator until the car engine warms, then if will stay on but it feels like it gonna turn off again. As I drive and stop at a light I fear it will stop again, but it stays on. Next it will be fine until I turn the engine off again and it’s the same. The car is a 97 Saturn SL with 120,000 miles on it. It recently had a tune up with new spark plugs, oil change, tire rotations etc. Apparently the mechanic missed something, or the cold weather is taking its toll on the car. Any ideas what the problem could be???
There are many different things that can cause a stalling problem, most are usually easy to fix, but the trick is to know which system is causing the problem. You can waste a lot of time and money fixing this and that and you still have the problem. So find a good car repair shop with modern diagnostic equipment and get them to check it out. They might prefer that you leave the car over night so that the motor is cold when they check it out the next morning .
